Chiefly letters written by Wagner to his family while serving with the 142nd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment in Civil War campaigns in Maryland and Virginia. Includes letters received by Wagner from friends also serving in the Union army and newspaper articles (1984) containing excerpts from a diary kept by Wagner while a Confederate prisoner in Salisbury Prison, N.C.
